Law Office Document Orientation Quiz
In order to properly file papers in a law office we need to be able to identify what category they belong to. Take the test to see if you can identify what documents belong to these common three categories of documents in a law firm Discovery, Pleadings or General Correspondence.
DISCOVERY- A Demand of Exchange of Expert Witness Information is a tool of discovery and is not filed with the court. This document will not appear on the register of actions.
PLEADING- A Declaration in Support of a Motion is filed with the Motion and will appear on the register of actions. A Motion at minimum consists of 1) Notice of Motion & Motion (sometimes Notice of Motion and Motion will be 1 document) 2) Memorandum of Points and Authorities. Additionally, a motion may have 4) Declaration 5) Proposed Order. All items related to the motion are pleadings.
