Coffee extraction--or how you brew your coffee--is the last step on the coffee flavor chain, as we've blogged about before. Tell us your preferred brew method and that will help us recommend a great coffee!
We think some coffees are better suited for additives, like milk and sugar, which will done down acidity, brightness and stronger flavors--for those who don't want those flavors, of course!
Roast levels will emphasize different flavor notes in the coffee bean. Tell us how you generally like your coffee beans--black as night, brown and beautiful, or bright bonde? Light roasts will bring out unique origin flavors--fruits, tartness, acidity, tropics, chocolates, etc--while dark roasts will hit more "roast" flavors, like toast, s'mores, and chocoalte nibs.
Try a Hawaiian coffee, like our Puna honey roast at any roast level, our K'au Yello Caturra or Typica, or most our famous Kona coffees. Hawaiian coffees have a very smooth acidity and nuanced fruit notes that can come beautifully out in all roasts, but especially light and medium and in immersion brew methods.
Try an Ethiopian coffee, like our Guji or Yirgacheffe natural processed. Ethoipian coffees are bright with fruity front notes that can come out in light and medium roasts. Its earthier background is more developed in darker roasts. These characteristics prominetly emerge in pour overs, French press, drip and Aeropress brews.
Try our semi-washed processed coffee from Brazil. This offering has everything in a traditional Brazil and more--chocolate, earthiness and graham cracker sweetness all in one. Brazil's do better in medium and dark rosts and blossoms well in espresso shots.
Try our Guatemalan coffees. LIke our Hawaiian coffees, Guatemelans absorb the rich, volcanic mineral deposits of the country's active volcanoes for a flavorful and aromatic coffee.Also like Hawaii, Guatemala has a variety of microclimates for an exciting mix of different profiles among its various reigions, like Antigua or Huehuetenango. Guatemalann coffee sings tropical notes with a welcome brightness, balanced by the washed process. Guatemals are excellent at all roast levels, and can hold up to espresso shots, but really shine in immersion brew methods.
Try our Papua New Guinea coffee. Welcome to the jungle, this coffee croons at its first sip. Tropical notes and smells greet you to the lush geography of Papua New Guinea, where ocean breeze and mountain air dance under the rain forrest canopy. The washed process balanced the acidity for a flavorful and aromatic cup. Great at light roast levels and at all brew methods.
