Accessible Parking
This carpark is wide enough for a wheelchair to exit their vehicle through the side, but it is not long enough for a wheelchair to exit their vehicle through the rear entry without protruding onto the road.
Even though this carpark has the slated lines which are intended for rear entry, it is not long enough for a vehicle to lower the ramp and allow enough room for the wheelchair to wheel out.
Even though the length of this carpark is not over 3.5m, there is extra space next to the carpark that is not intended for another car to park. So if a wheelchair comes out the side, and goes past the white lines, they will not meet another hazard or be in the way of another car.
It is important that, while you use the measurements, you also use the context of the area and are mindful of the space around the carpark.
The length of the carpark is long enough for a vehicle to comfortably park and allow space for the ramp to lower from the rear and room for the wheelchair to exit.
Usually, if it the park was next to a footpath it could also be considered a side entry carpark, however because of the raised concrete on the footpath, this would prevent ample room for a wheelchair to come out and so cannot be considered a side entry also.
If the raised concrete was NOT there then you could subcategorise it as 'Both Rear and Side Entry'.
