In order to function correctly, there must be an appropriate gap between the hopper and the plug.
If your hopper is overflowing, or is not achieving a tight column as it exits the hopper, you may need to adjust the hopper and plug in order to make the gap wider. This will allow the product to flow through at the same rate it enters the hopper. When the plug is at the correct level, the hopper should fill to at least 70%.
To make the gap larger, you will need to move the HOPPER down by moving all the nuts on the adjustor bolts DOWN in small increments, testing between each adjustment. After each adjustment, make sure to check the safety chains, ensuring that they have been set to a position that stops the springs from over stretching, and that the shackles are tightly closed.
In order to function correctly, there must be an appropriate gap between the hopper and the plug.
If your hopper is not backfilling, or the column is loose and dusty as it exits the hopper, you may need to adjust the hopper and plug in order to make the gap smaller. This will allow the product to flow through at the same rate it enters the hopper. When the plug is at the correct level, the hopper should fill to at least 70%.
To make the gap smaller, you will need to move the HOPPER UP by moving all the nuts on the adjustor bolts UP in small increments, testing between each adjustment. After each adjustment, make sure to check the safety chains, ensuring that they have been set to a position that stops the springs from over stretching, and that the shackles are tightly closed.
Check that the flow of product into the hopper is evenly distributed and landing on centre.
Also, make sure that your hopper has been installed in a level position, and that there is no build up or blockages inside.
There may be a total or partial blockage preventing the flow of material. Empty the hopper and check inside to ensure it is clean and there is no build up inside or on the bottom of the plug.
If the hopper is blocked by build up or lumps of material, a slap with the hands is usually sufficient to clear, never hit the hopper with hard or sharp objects.
