You are Peter Pan, the one who never grows up.
Still naive and young, you feel unprepared for adulthood. So rather than facing the reality that makes you anxious, you cling onto fantasies to hide from things you are afraid of. Eternal childhood sounds ideal at first, but soon you will realize you cannot stay in Neverland forever. Try stepping out of Neverland sometimes. Maybe Wendy is waiting for you, hoping to fly together again.
“There is a saying in the Neverland that, every time you breathe, a grown-up dies.” ― J.M. Barrie, Peter Pan
You are Pinocchio, the one who yearns for an easy life.
Pinocchio always seeks the best ways to avoid commitments. When you are burdened to do something, you either look for effortless ways to solution or have difficulties staying on track if it does not revolve around your interest. The struggle to balance between the wants and musts is your biggest challenge.
“Woe to those who lead slothful lives.” ― Carlo Collodi, Pinocchio
You are Alice, the one who has fallen into a wondrous rabbit hole.
Alice is always daydreaming of an exciting adventure. Just like how Alice’s curiosity leads her to Wonderland, you want to know what is ahead in your life. But the ambiguity of the unexplored adult life is evoking confusion, holding you back from moving further. Perhaps it’s time to trust yourself.
“But if I'm not the same, the next question is, Who in the world am I? Ah, that’s the great puzzle!” ― Lewis Carroll, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland
You are Wendy, the one who learns to fly.
As any creative individual, you are fully aware of your inner child, but you also feel responsible for adult duties. Like Wendy, you sometimes waver between staying in Neverland and going back home, but in the end, you will find the middle ground between your fantasies and reality.
“To live will be an awfully big adventure.” ― J.M. Barrie, Peter Pan
You are Dorothy, the one who seeks for Emerald City.
As an adult, you are living your life with a sense of responsibility. But you are still unsure of where your yellow brick road is taking you. Just like how the tornado swept Dorothy to the Land of Oz, life is full of unexpected events. Nevertheless, you will find your place over the rainbow if you keep walking. Remember, sometimes it’s ok to take a sidetrack.
“If we walk far enough… we shall sometime come to someplace.” ― L. Frank Baum, Wizard of Oz
You are Oz, the not-so-great and powerful.
When you are a child, you think you are the centre of the world, but eventually, everyone grows out of it. That’s when it hits you with despair, that you are not so perfect after all. Compromising with the world knowing what is real is necessary, but letting it control who you are can be destructive. Maybe it’s time for you to reawaken your inner child, to be fearless once again.
“…once I had brains, and a heart also; so, having tried them both, I should much rather have a heart.” ― L. Frank Baum, Wizard of Oz
You are Captain Hook, the one who has forgotten the inner child.
Always on a lookout for the ticking sound, Captain Hook does not have time for pure joy. Ever since you became an adult, you have always been chasing for what’s ahead, but sometimes you need a break to look around what’s already here. Waking your inner child may give you a new insight into what you really want in your life. Carpe diem!
“The moment you doubt whether you can fly, you cease forever to be able to do it.” ― J.M. Barrie, Peter Pan
