The court can impute a higher income where it finds that a parent is intentionally underemployed or unemployed.

Not discussing the activity with the other parent or obtaining their consent may cause the enrolling parent to be solely responsible for all costs associated with the activity and create more communication difficulties for co-parenting.

Hiring a private investigator could escalate conflict and needlessly complicate delicate family dynamics. If admissible, such evidence could be counter productive by suggesting a controlling or obsessive behaviour.

This is generally not encouraged in family court as it tends to escalate domestic conflict and make it difficult to rebuild the trust required to act together in the children's best interests. Depending on the circumstances, it may not be admissible in evidence especially when the recordings are surreptitiously made. Family court may also consider the conduct of recording conflict as unreasonable behavour, in itself.

The children's best interest should always be the primary consideration even in the absence of an order or agreement. Unilaterally witholding all access to children from a previously supportive parent could cause them emotional harm and would not be a child focused approach to parenting.
