What mountain sports-type are you?
Now that we have briefly introduced the different mountain sports disciplines above, the question is which one suits you best, right? Here we have a short, simple quiz for you to find out exactly that. Have fun on your next adventure!
I'm going to the mountains...
...to enjoy and see nature
...to improve my training level and to stay fit in the most beautiful fitness centre ever
...to experience adventures and summit experiences of a special kind
Where do you most like to be in the mountains?
Preferably really remote or alone in the wilderness.
Along easily accessible paths that also lead past a nice hut or pub.
Preferably not too far away from civilisation.
How much time do you usually have to experience the mountains?
A day trip is absolutely enough for that.
I take one or two days for it.
If there is a window of opportunity on a half-day, I usually take advantage of it right away.
What is your motivation?
I like to push my performance limits.
I want to enjoy nature through physical activity. Performance and enjoyment can be combined perfectly.
First and foremost, I want to recover actively and move moderately in nature.
What should not be missing from your luggage?
I take only what is necessary - not a gram too much. Preferably as light as possible.
I always find room for provisions, an extra jumper, a pocket knife or even binoculars.
I like to be prepared for anything, the mountains can be moody. Heavy luggage with the necessary equipment is no problem for me.
This is your favourite outfit to move in:
Casual and comfortable doesn't have to be sportswear or super functional.
Highly functional and lightweight clothing is a must.
I swear by the layering principle to be prepared for all weather conditions.
Your favourite shoes to wear in the mountains are the following:
A running shoe suitable for off-road use or a robust multifunctional shoe.
A half or high hiking boot.
A (conditionally) crampon-compatible mountain boot.
How do you rate your technique level?
I am an occasional mountain walker: average is probably a good description.
I'm practised in using crampons, ice axes and the like and feel comfortable in a rope team.
For me, exposed terrain and the occasional use of my hands are no problem.
The nature walker
You enjoy nature to the fullest. You like to enjoy the company of others and end your hike with a cool spritzer or a sour cider in the sun. If you want to enjoy nature even longer, try several days in a row and do an easy trekking tour! After the first night under the stars, you will surely thank us.
The light-footed
You are as nimble as a gazelle and like to enjoy the mountains on fast feet. You like to climb two peaks a day instead of just one and get your pulse racing - and not just because of the beauty of the mountains. If you already feel at home with trail running, try fast hiking.
The summiteer
The top of the mountain makes your heart beat faster. Sloping terrain or even having a hand on the rock are nothing new to you and don't upset you. You love to experience new adventures every day. If you want to take your adventurous spirit to a new level, check out the Mammut Alpine School for guided alpine tours! You'll thank us for it.
