What’s your no-fail trick to feed veggies to your child?
I sit them down and wait ’til they do.
I mix vegetables creatively with meals!
I let my LO decide what they want to eat.
I tell them stories so they’ll eat.
How long does it take your LO to finish a meal?
About 20 - 30 minutes.
More than an hour.
Depends on what the food is.
Forever — it seems like!
What combination of food groups do you prepare for your LO's eating plate?
I provide my LO with a half plate of various fruits and vegetables, a quarter plate of grains, and a quarter plate of protein.
I combine a quarter of fruits and vegetables, a quarter of meat, a quarter of grains, and a quarter of Dairy.
I don't mix food groups. I only give my LO single servings.
I just give my LO anything he/she asks for.
What’s your trick to getting your child to try other food, instead of just demanding to eat their favourites all the time?
I respect my kid’s wants and let them eat what they want.
I just give them what’s available if they don’t want to eat the food I initially offered.
I do not put up with it, it takes patience but my kid will eat what I give them to eat.
I don’t think “picky eating” is a thing.
Do you let your kid have sweets?
Yes, because I believe it’s only fair.
Yes, so they’ll leave me alone.
No, not until they are older
Never! We don’t eat sugar in our house.
How do you teach your kids about personal hygiene?
By example and reminders — I show them how and when to wash their hands, brush their teeth, etc.
I still guide them a lot with cleaning, wiping, etc.
I do it for them. They won’t be clean enough otherwise
They’ll learn that in school
Do you give your kid supplements (eg multivitamins, fish oil, etc)?
Yes, because their health needs to be as strong as it can be.
Yes, because I’ve heard good reviews about supplements.
Yes, because I’ve heard good reviews about supplements.
No, I worry about food safety.
How do you get your kid to get to sleep more?
I encourage more daytime naps.
I push for an earlier bedtime.
I do not. My kid sleeps whenever.
I have given up.
How do you get them to exercise?
I exercise with them!
We play a lot indoors and outdoors.
We do not exercise at all.
We can’t find the time to do anything active.
Do you believe more time at home affects your kid’s health?
Yes, I think staying indoors makes my kid weaker.
Yes, I believe staying indoors harms my kid’s health.
No, staying indoors more prevents them from getting sick.
Not sure if there’s a difference.
