What kind of melee player are you?
Think of something you did in melee recently that you're proud of -- the first thing that comes to mind. Which of these best describes that moment?
What do you spend too much of your practice time on?
That is, relative to how much time you spend on the others. Even if you could afford to practice everything more, what is taking up a higher percentage of practice time than it should?
Think of a player you usually lose to. What's your first instinct for how you will improve against them next time?
Your gameplan is not working against your opponent. What do you try next?
Which of the final answers do you think is coolest? Which would you like to be?
The types are:
Mind: your natural leaning is towards strategizing and implementing overarching plans
Body: your natural leaning is towards optimizing your mechanics to be as perfect as possible
Heart: your natural leaning is towards beating your opponent by understanding and predicting them.
Body
As a body player, your instinct is to outplay your opponent by simply executing better. Your focus tends to be on any tech skill that could give you a leg up on your opponent; often, your punish game.
Mind
As a mind player, you tend to solve problems by planning around them. Mind players are focused on making fundamentally sound choices that give them an advantage over the course of the game. You approach the game as a puzzle you're trying to solve.
Heart
As a heart player, your instinct is to focus on your opponent. You watch for habits you can exploit. You pay attention to how their emotions are affecting their play. And then, you begin predicting their next action. And more than that, you pressure them into situations where they are weak, and you are strong.
