What is the Secret to Loving Your Life?
CHECK AS MANY ANSWERS AS YOU BELIEVE ARE CORRECT.
This may surprise you, but NONE of the answers above are entirely correct because they rely on WHAT WE CAN DO, and NOT WHAT GOD IS COMMITTED TO DO in us.
They fuel a dependence on our circumstances changing rather than fully trusting God to provide for our needs without assuming we know what that looks like.
It certainly doesn't look like a Red Sea, a lion's den, or a fiery furnace.
Here's a snapshot of why each of these perspectives is not key to loving our lives and the unique script God wrote for us.
Why These Are NOT The Secrets to Loving Your Life?
1. God Fulfilling Your Hopes and Dreams . . .
Haven’t we seen some of our hopes and dreams be fulfilled, and yet they ended up being less satisfying than we thought they would be?
2. Things Working Out the Way You Hope . . .
How do we know if what we are hoping for is best for us? In the past, things seemed to work out the way we hoped and yet we still didn’t love our life?
3. Your Prayers Being Answered . . .
Haven’t we seen God answer certain prayers, and yet we still didn’t love our life? Will we only love our life if all of our prayers are answered?
4. God Changing Your Circumstances . . .
How many of our circumstances would need to change before we loved your life? Haven’t we seen God change our circumstances and yet we still didn’t love our life?
5. Obeying God . . .
Is perfectly obeying God really the key for loving our life? Haven’t we at times obeyed God and yet we still didn’t love our life?
6. Doing What is Right . . .
How many right things would we need to do? Haven’t we done what is right and yet we still didn’t love our life?
7. Not Expecting Too Much . . .
God has never asked us to believe for little. Why would He promise to do “…far more abundantly than all that we ask or think…” (Ephesians 3:20), and then want us to not expect much from Him?
8. Learning to Honor God . . .
How can we, with our imperfections, possibly “always” honor a perfect and holy God? Would we still love our life on the days we messed up and felt we didn’t measure up to His holiness?
9. Never Giving Up . . .
If we are still breathing, then we haven’t given up, but that doesn’t mean we love our life. Loving our life will require more than existing.
10. Finding the Truth . . .
What truth in particular would we need to find? Is it a singular truth, or an endless sequence of truth being revealed?
The truth is most people have serious misconceptions of God, what He thinks of them, and consequently . . . never really fall in love with the life, the actual script, God’s written for them.
The “ABUNDANT LIFE” Jesus promised in John 10:10 isn’t a “pipe dream”; it’s God’s will for your life!
