Goalie Bracket 2024 Round Two
Hello again! Or, if your friends have bullied you into voting (which I encourage), hello for the first time! Welcome to round two of the goalie bracket!
This round has one wrinkle that I will mention upfront: There are 19 rounds, therefore there are going to be 19 goalies at the end of this round. Whichever goalie gets the most votes out of all 38 of the remaining goaltenders gets a pass and automatically goes to round four!
For funsies I added their 2023-24 gamelogs from Hockey Reference on their round two links on the google sheet
Once more, I don't actually care why you're voting for whoever; just vote for all of them and make your friends vote too! Just as a reminder: this is based on the 2023-24 season, so do not blame me for the Bruins angst, blame Don Sweeney.
Saros was (is) the starter for the Predators, and statistically the most overworked goaltender in the NHL.
Kähkönen has since moved (quite a bit sorry kahki), but he was the Sharks' most consistent backup and ended up with almost as many games as Blackwood.
Connor Hellebuyck should probably have two more Vezinas and a Hart is how good and important to the Jets he is.
Ned cemented his spot as backup/tandem mate to Tristan Jarry with a reasonably solid season of his own.
Sergei Bobrovsky led the Cats to a Cup last summer. What more needs to be said?
Scott Wedgewood brought the fun and the backup goalie support to the Stars.
Annunen finally won himself the Avs' backup position with his first fulltime callup
Montembeault grabbed the starter position from the oft-injured (and eliminated) Allen and held it despite the Habs being... the Habs.
Korpisalo is a very intense ginger (i see u lili <3) who started for the Sens last year
Kochetkov is a fighty Russian child who carried the bulk of the work for the Canes last year as Andersen and Raanta were both hurt a LOT
Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen has a super fun name to type, say, etc, and he carried the bulk of the starter's load for the Sabres
Alex Lyon did the same for the Wings, and takes headshots that make him look both intense and like there is not a single thought in his head
Talbot brought a bit of stability to the Kings' net
Blackwood was the Sharks' starter, thrown into the deep end (yes that's a pun no i'm not sorry) while their skaters did whatever that was (sorry cat)
Despite looking very sad in his headshots, Demko is a bunch of fun and got the Canucks to the playoffs before getting hurt
Lankinen is a ray of sunshine who backed Saros up for the 17 whole starts they let him have.
Jarry led the league in shutouts and scored himself a goal and a contract extension. He also almost led the league in penalty minutes for a goalie.
Markström is one of the most underrated goalies in the league and also has a great smile
sulks i love them both
Ingy came back from, in his words, a grippy sock vacation (yes really) to lock down his 1A position with the Yotes
Grubi bounced back from a rough previous year with the Kraken to form a pretty solid tandem with Daccord.
I don't like this one either y'all are mean to me
Kuemper has a sunshine smile and a golden retriever personality
Georgiev proved he was The Guy in Colorado, is an enormous nerd, and, lest we forget, once punched Tony DeAngelo.
Ullmark is both lovable and extremely good in net, and how is that fair to anyone?
Šilovs was the Canucks' playoff sensation and is also super fun
Fleury is a prankster, the all-time leader in shootout wins, and last round's runaway favorite with 44 total votes out of a possible 47.
Chrona was the Sharks' baby, he did his best, he is about to be STEAMROLLED by Flower. Oh and his gf is hilarious.
Merzļikins held down the starting job in Columbus, often a thankless task, but you can tell he still loves his job.
Andersen was hurt a lot of last year, but is one of the most consistent goalies in the NHL and is the size of a refrigerator.
Swayman made himself the goalie of the future in Boston and really wants to fight someone
Shesterkin has carried on the Rangers' tradition of being very good but very overworked
Dostál also won gold with the Czech national team at Worlds after his first full season with the Ducks
Oettinger was and is indispensable to the Stars, and he's called Otter. How cute is that?
Woll stabilized the always-chaotic net situation for the Leafs and was good in his two playoff games
Vasilevskiy continues to be the anchor for an ever-changing Bolts squad, though he missed the first month of the season with back surgery (from carrying the team obviously)
Raanta was part of the Canes' Two Men and a Baby Thrandem (yes i just made that up) for his last year of goaltending.
Ersson is the only Flyers goalie in this bracket, deserves to be because he was quite good in a surprise starter position last year, and has great hair.
Lindgren has a mustache from the 90s and stole the Caps starting job (complimentary)
Daccord tandemed it up tandem-style with Grubauer in Seattle. Joey is short for Joel. Yeah idk either.
Thank you for voting, please bully your friends into voting, and love your goalies!
Just as a reminder, the goalie with the most overall votes skips the next round so the more votes, the better!
