The first MG cars were a sales promotion in the early 1920s for Morris Garages, a sales and service centre in Oxford, owned by William Morris, founder of the Morris Motors.
The sales manager, Cecil Kimber, came up with the idea of offering specially modified Morris Oxfords (wonder where they got that name from?) with an "MG Super Sports" badge. That's right, MG was essentially to Morris what HSV was to Holden...
Toyota's bZ4X EV is the result of a collaboration between a number of separate companies under the Toyota Group umbrella, including aa joint venture between Aisin and Denso called Blue Nexus which builds the e-Axle, while Subaru (which Toyota owns 20% of) was brought in for its AWD expertise.
Old Speckled Hen took its name from an MG experimental car called the Featherlight Saloon. The car's body was made of a wooden frame covered with gold-speckled black cellulosed fabric, earning its name when it started being used as a runaround for workers in the MG factory.
In 1979, MG celebrated the 50th anniversary of its move from Oxford to Abingdon and asked brewers Morland & Co to create a special commemorative beer for the occasion, for which they would suggest the name and would also design the label.

MG created its XPower brand in 2001 to be its motorsport arm. It created a number of concept cars based on the TF and ZT, but its first actual production car was the mighty Ford V8-powered MG XPower SV from 2003.
The MG Cyberster concept car was unveiled in 2021, while a pre-production version was shown this year. It is due to go on sale later next year and will be available in two different versions; a 230kW RWD model and a 400kW AWD model.
